And the winners are...

Hey there hackers,

We are thrilled to announce the winners of the CodeShift Hackathon! Go to the CodeShift gallery to congratulate the winners and check out all of the awesome submissions.

This competition, hosted on Red Hat's cloud-native application development platform, OpenShift, has witnessed developers from around the globe showcasing their skills and creativity. Amongst the impressive submissions, one project stood out for its ingenuity, depth, and potential impact on the healthcare sector.

Without further ado, let's unveil the Best Overall Prize Winner:

Vino Pharmacy Shift - this project leverages blockchain and Intel technologies to create a secure and confidential online pharmacy platform. It features four AI models, including medicine name recognition and sign detection, all optimized with Intel OpenVINO. Utilizing Ganache local blockchain and a thoughtful architecture with Python Flask and Quarkus, the project streamlines medication processes, enhancing both security and user experience in the healthcare domain.

2nd Place - OpenShiftHub - this project is a dynamic marketplace on the OpenShift platform, bridging the gap between sellers and customers. The project, driven by a mission to empower small vendors, utilizes an array of technologies, including Data Science Hub, Intel OpenVINO models, and various programming languages. Through a seller-centric website, customer-friendly browser extension, and a WhatsApp bot, the project offers advanced features such as image classification, personalized recommendations, and efficient customer feedback, aiming to transform the landscape of customer-seller interactions.

3rd Place - AutoDocs AI - this project emerged from the frustration with outdated documentation, offering a seamless solution integrated with developers' workflows to eliminate manual documentation challenges. The project, built on Red Hat OpenShift and leveraging Knative Functions, ChatGPT, and AstraDB, transforms code into precise, human-readable documentation stored dynamically through GitHub integration, providing an efficient and cohesive tech stack for developers.

Runners Up - PerTaaS: Performance Testing as a Service & OpenCityHub

PerTaaS - introduces an opinionated approach to performance testing using virtual threads in Java, leveraging the capabilities of Quarkus, Vert.x, and other frameworks to compete with established tools like wrk and jmeter. The project provides a sample application for running tests with a generic template, offering flexibility for custom tests like HMAC or OAuth. Built on OpenShift and Red Hat images, the system includes API support, standalone performance test applications, Helm charts for easy deployment, and integration with Couchbase for data management.

OpenCityHub - is a scalable and cost-efficient Kubernetes-native Smart City Management system, inspired by the challenges posed by urbanization and the need for tech-based solutions to enhance city living. Addressing issues of high costs and operational expenses, the project employs microservices and serverless functions for applications like traffic management, pollution control, health management, and public safety. With a focus on open-source technologies, OpenCityHub provides ready-made apps and Kubernetes/Docker native configurations for simplified deployment, management, and scaling of smart city systems.

We want to congratulate everyone who submitted a project as we know you spent many hours ideating and building. Thank you to all who participated in this hackathon and congratulations again to the winners!
